The World Conference on Tobacco OR Health Conference

The World Conference on Tobacco OR Health Conference is being held July 12-15, 2006 in Washington DC. The conference will feature the latest research on the science of tobacco and its effects, and presenters will share relevant new data on topics including addiction, cessation, public policy, secondhand smoke, and smokeless tobacco. The conference will also allow delegates an opportunity to examine the impact of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and to discuss ways developing countries can use it to promote their tobacco control efforts and how it can reinforce tobacco control in developed countries.

WHO EuroPharm Forum

The EuroPharm Forum is a joint network of national pharmaceutical associations and WHO/Europe. One of the many EuroPharm Forum projects is the Smoking Cessation Project. Started in 1993, the project seeks to involve pharmacists in smoking cessation programmes in the communities they serve. From 1997 onwards, much information on the project has been disseminated in the form of articles in national pharmaceutical journals, lectures at conferences, educational meetings, and poster presentations. Publications are available on the WHO EuroPharm Forum website.

GlobaLink is the International Tobacco-Control Network hosted by the International Union against Cancer (UICC).

Treatobacco.net presents evidence-based information about the treatment of tobacco dependence, under five headings: Efficacy, Safety, Demographics and Health Effects, Health Economics and Policy. It is run by the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) and the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe, and is a collaborative initiative between public and private organizations. Treatobacco.net is currently available in 9 languages.
