A special welcome for Young Pharmacists and First Timers!
FIP would like to extend an especially warm welcome to our First Time Congress participants! As first time visitors to the Congress, it is our goal to make sure you feel an immediate sense of belonging amidst your peers and colleagues from all over the world. To do so, many events in Hyderabad will give First Timers a special chance to get to know each other, while discovering the world of networking and learning opportunities that FIP and our Congress have to offer!
YPG Awards
Each year YPG offers several awards for Young Pharmacists to attend the FIP Congress. These awards, such as the YPG Award for Professional Innovation and the Mike How Award are based on projects and initiatives undertaken by Young Pharmacists and judged on the criteria set out under the award guidelines. For more information please visit the FIP Website here.
The FIRST-TIMER MENTOR PROGRAMME Returns!
Following its success in Istanbul in 2009 and Lisbon in 2010, FIP is pleased to bring back the First-Timer Mentor Programme! As last year, first-time Congress Participants will have the opportunity to be paired with a "Congress Mentor", someone who has attended the FIP Congress in previous years and who is ready, willing and able to welcome new participants, introduce them to both new and experienced attendees, connect them with others in their field of interest and help them make the most of their first Congress experience. Many First-Timers took this opportunity last year with great success!
That said, we have taken all their comments, suggestions and ideas and hope to make this year even better. Stay tuned for more information!

Hear from other First Timers and Young Pharmacists
Gloriana Fernandez, First Time Congress Participant at FIP 2009 Istanbul
Last September I had the good fortune of being able to attend the FIP World Congress for the first time. At the time, I had not been a member FIP for very long and was not sure of what to expect. I had been to many professional pharmacy meetings before but none quite so exciting as this. What fascinated me most was the fact that the congress allows for the meeting of minds on a global scale. Watching so many passionate pharmacists from all over the world coming together, exchanging ideas, learning from and inspiring eachother was truly exhilarating.
Over the course of those few days, I had the opportunity to attend interesting and thought provoking sessions and I had the privilege of meeting many pharmacists who tirelessly advocate the role of pharmacy practice in their respective corners of the world. In the evenings, I got the chance to attend dinners and other social gatherings which allowed me to get to know some of these pharmacists, not just as professionals, but as people. FIP members are not just colleagues, but friends and the close knit family atmosphere was truly infectious. I came away feeling energized, empowered and inspired. I also made a few friends, which I'm happy to say I'll be seeing again this year in Hyderabad. Won't you join us?
