FIP Awards
Background
In previous years the FIP Foundation for Education and Research recognised outstanding achievements in the fields of Pharmaceutical Practice or the Pharmaceutical Sciences by granting Awards. At the Bureau Meeting of 3 September 2004 , it was decided that as of 2005 these Foundation awards would become FIP Awards.
Call for Nominations - the Host Madsen Award
Please send all nominations and inquiries regarding the 2009 Host Madsen Award to Ms Paula Cohen at the FIP Secretariat, paula@fip.org, on or before 15 December 2008.

Honorary President
The Council, on the proposal of the Bureau, may award the title of: Honorary President to former Presidents of FIP who have given exceptional service to FIP. Honorary Presidents may attend Council Meetings, but have no voting rights.
André Bédat Award
The André Bédat Award is the highest Pharmaceutical Practice award of FIP and will be awarded every two years, (in the even years), at an annual FIP Congress. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Høst-Madsen Medal
The Høst-Madsen Medal is the highest Pharmaceutical Science award of FIP and will be awarded every two years, (in the odd years), at an annual FIP Congress. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Honorary Member
The Bureau may award the title of Honorary Member, to persons who have rendered significant services to FIP. The award will be made to persons who are not eligible to be individual members of FIP. The award will be reserved for exceptional persons, and it is anticipated that it will not be awarded frequently. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Lifetime Achievement in the Pharmaceutical Practice Award
This award is made to an individual who has, over many years, contributed to the development of the Practice of Pharmacy, and will be awarded every two years, (in the odd years), at an annual FIP Congress. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Distinguished Science Award
This award is made to an individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to Pharmaceutical Sciences, and will be awarded every two years, (in the even years), at an annual FIP Congress. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Distinguished Service Award
The purpose of this award is to recognise officers and employees of FIP who have rendered exceptional and distinguished service to FIP. The award will be made on an ad hoc basis. A call for nominations for this award will not be formally issued. However, the General Secretary, Sections, Special Interest Groups, Board of Pharmaceutical Practice and Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences may submit nominations to the FIP Executive Committee, that outline the contributions of the candidate to FIP. Such nominations should not normally be submitted later than 1st April of the year in which the award will be made. FIP Fellow (FFIP)
The purpose of the award is to recognise individual members of FIP who have exhibited strong leadership internationally, who have distinguished themselves in the pharmaceutical sciences and/or practice of pharmacy, who have contributed to the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences and/or practice or pharmacy, and who have served FIP. FIP Fellows may use the designation “FFIP.” The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:

Special Awards
FIP has the possibility to install special awards in designated pharmaceutical areas. The award recognises outstanding achievements of individuals in these designated pharmaceutical areas.
Bio-Tech Award
This Award is given bi-annually to an individual who has significantly contributed to the rapidly developing field of biotechnology. The governing rules for granting this award are described in FIP Rules of Procedures:
